Well, January seems to have flown by for us here at Bazooka Arts. After a break over the festive period our online therapeutic arts programmes have begun again, with participants and volunteers being able to access a variety of therapeutic art, drama and movement sessions with support from our team. In the closing session of 2020 participants reflected on the year that had passed; positive aspects that could be helpful to remember and their hopes and wishes for the year ahead. Some wrote their wishes on gift tags and others shared their messages on our Cluster
There are some exciting projects coming up, including our annual focus on creating artwork and performance for the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. This Festival theme this year is ‘normality’ and we’re looking forward to sharing with the work that our participants create in response to the theme. Watch this space!
We are pleased to be working with ‘Get Outdoors Lanarkshire’ to develop three short films about connecting to nature through creativity. With many of the 2020 programmes focusing on themes around nature, we are looking forward to being a part of the Programme and promoting the exploration of nature through creativity in our local areas.
Nature is a theme that runs throughout our therapeutic art programmes, as Bazooka Arts Co-Founder Bryony said: ‘’Nature provides a continual source of creative inspiration and is a powerful metaphor for wellbeing and simply being in nature is health giving in itself ‘’
Get Outdoors Lanarkshire is running a series of free, nature-based events throughout January, February and March. You can find out more and sign up to events at www.getoutdoorslanarkshire.com
